Bonnie Tyler has revealed her secret miscarriage agony and the pain of never becoming a mum.>>>
"I didn't really feel maternal at all until my late 30s when it suddenly just seemed like the right time to have children," - said Neath-born Bonnie, now 55, who has been married to property developer Robert Sullivan for 33 years. "So we stopped using precautions, you know, and thought, 'Well if it happens, it happens. We were thrilled when the doctors told us we were going to be parents but unfortunately the pregnancy only lasted about two-and-a-half months - I lost the baby. Me and Rob tried for a couple of years after that but with no luck. I was so busy touring at that time that it wouldn't have been fair on a child anyway. Then it became too late to be having children."
Bizarrely, six years earlier, a 15-year-old girl fan from Australia had turned up on the doorstep of Bonnie's seaside Mumbles home claiming to be her daughter.
"It was 1979 and she just appeared right out of the blue one day. She really did believe I was her mother and that I'd had her adopted. Somehow she'd managed to forge her sister's passport and travel all that way on her own - how the hell she managed to get the money together I'll never know. I had to sit her down and tell her straight, 'I'm sorry, love, I'm not your mum. I don't have any children', but she would have none of it. Obviously, her parents were frantically worried about her and, eventually I had no option but to call the police to come and get her. I think she was deported back home to her family."
But that wasn't the last time Bonnie would hear from her.
"For quite a few years after that she'd send me cards and presents every Mother's Day, but after a while they just stopped coming. I've no idea where she might be now.”
